We are very pleased to announce our first recipients of the Josh Russell Ski Racing Scholarship Fund. Sam Norden of Eaton, NH and Alex Howe of Gilford, NH each received $1,000.00 towards their alpine and nordic ski racing endeavors respectively. We are excited to endorse both of these fine racers!
Sam is an eleventh-grade student at Kennett High School and is currently racing on the MWV Ski Team--a program of ski education, training and racing for Junior I, II, and II racers and the Kennett High School Ski Team. Sam is in his second year as a J II and participates in USSA and FIS races and he is ranked in the top 10 (USSA) in his age group in slalom and GS in NH. He has chosen to use his scholarship funds to defray travel costs associated with the FIS racing circuit.
Alex is a tenth-grade student at Gilford High School and the top Boys J II XC Skier in the country for 2005. Other 2005 titles include: Eastern States High School XC Championships boys individual champion and All-American Classic, Skate and Sprint Skier titles along with a number of gold medals in both classic and skate skiing races in 2005.
